Aqua Tower by Studio Gang in Chicago, USA
Secret House by AGi architects in Shuwaikh B, Kuwait
Sustainable Vertical Neighborhood by Solus4
The architectural and urban planning firm, Solus4 designed the Sustainable Vertical Neighborhood, a 950 foot tall residential tower in New York City. LeMessurier Consultants designed the structural system that is made by in-situ concrete with flat slabs, the distance between the floor and the glass ceiling is 14 foot. The tower has a distinctive shape and the structure is sustained by columns and shear walls.
On the exterior are double glazed skins with a chimney role in order to enhance the thermal barrier, this will control the heat gains and losses. Supplementary power is generated by the mini-turbines, the temperature can be controlled also by the window shading, there are many conditions that ensures individual comfort.
The majority of the power required for the building is provide by the thin film photo voltaic panels that cover the outside surface in combination with other sustainable systems. Besides providing living space and shading, the balconies can collect rainwater that will be recycled .
On the street level will be placed the car garage that uses card access system and common spaces like food outlets, mini-produce market, neighborhood retail, terraced cafes, recreation, gym, swimming, museum/gallery space and office/studio space for residents.
This would be cool if it got approved. I’ll be keeping an eye out for this project.
